Vita

I am a political scientist working at the NRW School of Governance, Institute for Political Science, University of Duisburg-Essen. I am currently finishing my doctoral thesis on the descriptive representation of immigrant-origin minorities in Germany. Since February of 2019, I have been working as a research scientist for the Mercator Forum Migration and Democracy (MIDEM).

My research focuses on the political representation of groups, the political participation of immigrant-origin minorities, and political candidate selection processes in Germany. I investigate the role of German political parties in group representation, especially immigrant-origin minorities. Recently, I have been particularly interested in intersectionality, i.e. how different social identities (such as gender, migration background, class, etc.) interact together within the candidate selection process.

Before devoting myself exclusively to my research, I worked in the past as a science communicator for the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research / Population Europe in Berlin (2015-2019) and collected several experiences in the field of German-French journalism.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Studies and a Master’s degree in European Studies. I studied at the European University Viadrina (Frankfurt – Oder, Germany) and the University of Valencia (Spain). In 2015, I was awarded the scholarship Deutschlandstipendium by the German Federal Government and the Mebus-Pleuger Foundation.
